Holiday WordPress is a gorgeous holiday theme for WordPress. With transparent backgrounds, it allows your main background to be seen through various parts of the design, which allows for the ultimate flexibility in changing the background to something that fits your style. Theme includes a featured post area with the option of adding a custom field image.

I usually hate “christmas” or “holiday” inspired themes, because a lot of them just look cheesy with snowflakes and ornaments pasted everywhere. But this one is truly classy and easy on the eyes while still remaining “holiday” inspired. Gorgeous!
Thanks Heather, I appreciate your compliments. Please enjoy the theme and let me know if you see any problems. I hope to build off this theme for other holidays in the future as well.
wow awesome. i love your work chris.
Thanks so much for all.

Great design Chris, how do I get the content (white) background to render in IE6?
Wow, I like how this one looks a bit modern.
Darren, technically, while this theme should work with the IE6, I can’t guarantee it will. However, I did add a reference to IE8.js, which forces old versions of IE to act like a standards-compliant browser. I may look at the IE6 issues at some point to see if I can’t get it working properly.
hi Chris,
very nice and clean theme.
i d like to know how to change the “featured” post that is on the top on the website
by default, it seems to be the latest post written. Is there a category or anything to set to change that ? thanks a lot

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the great template, i am currently using the template for my blog and i am having a problem with the categories. All posts made and put in categories show up on the homepage but when i click on the individual category in the sidebar or link directly to it in my address bar i just get a blank page instead of the categorized posts.
I wondered if you had encountered this problem before and know of a solution?
Many Thanks.
I’m not sure if it is the template causing the issue or if it is your WordPress install. Try with another theme and see if you have the same issue. If it appears to be something wrong with the theme, please send me a link to it. I would really like to see it.
I’ve tried it with 4 or 5 other themes and the posts show up on the respective category pages. I believe its something within index.php stopping it as there is no category.php file so it reverts back? But im not 100% sure.
Sorry cant send a link because im working on it offline for the time being.

In IE7, the “Continue Reading” label in the featured section disappears. Otherwise, this looks like a solid theme.
Thanks for letting me know, I will add that to my defect list
a great theme! thank you for sharing!:) i modified it…:) just visit my site!:)
@tin looks good, thanks for sharing!
thanks chris!:) it works perfectly with my wp plugins!:) keep up the good work!
Hi Chris
Thanks for making this them available. It’s perfect!
I do have a quick question though, where do I go to change the Featured Post and set it to a particular post or category/tag? I recall seeing a section to stipulate a particular post when I first installed it, but can’t seem to remember WHERE and I’ve been trying to search for it for hours!
Thanks for your help.
@Patricia there is an includes folder that contains a file called
featured.php. That is where the code is for the featured post. The default is for the latest post to show up in the featured post section. Then you need to create a custom field on the post for “image” and it should show up in the right spot, as long as it exists and is the correct size.Thank you for your wonderful theme. But it have some problems in IE7 and IE8: the head “featured” picture went down, the “continue reading” disapeared, the name of commenter left left side, and the archieves title slightly up. Expected for updating. thanks.
For some reason the sidebar only loads correctly on the main page, but not on the single post or page templates. I can’t see any reason why it is acting differently on the main page vs. the other pages.
Hi, Chris
This theme has a little problem. If you choose any tag, not all entries will be displayed on the page.

Chris — Something is definitely wrong with this theme. When I clicked The categories, it’s only showing one entry out of many post. Also when I clicked “Previous Entry”, it’s blank.
Hi Chris! Love this theme! The only thing it’s missing is a search field… Do you have any plans for an updated release?
ps. Would it hard to swap out the .gif site title for a dynamic blog title and strap line?
