Introducing Cufón, a Font Replacement Solution
If you’re like me, you probably have been searching for a solid web font replacement technique which avoids replacing text with images or utilizing both Flash AND Javascript. In a nutshell, web font replacement aims to allow web designers to replace standard web fonts on a website with any font you can imagine while keeping your markup semantically meaningful, accessible, without ballooning page load times. There are few good alternatives out there but most require Flash and JavaScript. The problem with that is requiring an end user to have BOTH Flash and Javascript installed and turned on.

Elsewhere on the Web: 16 Genuine, Authentic Designers on Twitter
If it seems like I haven’t posted much recently on Designer&Developer, well, yes, that’s true. But to be fair, I have been extremely busy with some monstrous projects. Even with all those crazy projects going on, I still had some time to pull together a post for my buddy Jacob Gube of Six Revisions called “16 Genuine, Authentic Designers on Twitter.”
Now, I know what you’re all thinking, “Oh no, not another list of designers on Twitter, we’ve seen like 40 of those in the past three weeks.” Well, this one is quite different, listing 16 designers who’s updates and work I find quite interesting and worth a follow, if I do say so myself. Some of them you know, some you don’t. There were even a few designers a bit chafed they weren’t on the list, and for that, I do apologize. I wanted to keep this list brief, instead of finding 200+ designers which would be overwhelming to most people. If you haven’t already stopped by to take a gander, please do!
You can look forward to more posts of mine on Six Revisions as well. If you have any ideas or questions, don’t hesitate to hit me up.

Best WordPress Design Award
You know, I’m not typically one to enter contests but after seeing the number of entries on the WPWebHost design awards, I thought I would throw my hat into the ring for the best ‘grunge’ WordPress design for this site, chris-wallace.com. Make sure to vote for me when they announce the ten blogs in the category.
While I’m at it, I would also like to nominate my ‘Absynthe’ WordPress design for the best “retro and vintage” category as well.

Into the Twittersphere!
As you probably know, I am a frequent Twitterer. You can follow me at @chriswallace. Most people have no clue what it is or why it’s useful, fun, informational, <insert your reason for using it here>. Instead, they see it from the same angle as this hilarious cartoon from Current TV.

See you at SXSW
Unfortunately, I am not able to make it to SXSW this year, but to pay homage to Austin’s greatest music/film/interactive festival, this evening I created a site you can send to your friends who may seem a little down about missing the big show. For those who are lucky enough to be able to make it down, congratulations. For those of us who work for companies that think it’s one giant party instead of an educational and informational conference, we’re stuck in our tiny cubicles.
The site is VirtualSXSW.com and allows you to track the latest action from SXSW on Twitter. I might add some more cool stuff to the site… or I might not, it all depends on how much time I have to goof around with it.
