I just wanted to share the new logo for one of the projects I am currently working on. Odds are if you’re in the WordPress world, you know John Saddington. He operates under @human3rror on twitter and has released a number of WordPress themes on his website. He is a great guy and I am very excited to be working with him on a very fun project. I just recently completed the logo for this super-secret project and asked John if I could share this with you all to get some feedback on it. Basically, the concept behind the logo is the idea of being recharged or refueled. I’d love to know what you think about it!
It’s getting there. What if you separated the two batteries? I do like the way you illustrated the “charged” and “losing power” states. And do the two, the icon and the name, plan on going together? If so I would make the 8BIT larger, feels off to me by sitting under the batteries at that size.
… just my 2 cents.
I agree with Kyle that the type is getting a little lost sitting below at the size it is, and also by gradating dark to light on top is attracting my eyes directly to the color and tops of the battery icons. Not sure if you tried this, but maybe try combining the two batteries, gradate from the “empty” orange/red on the bottom bars to the “full” green on top.
The only thing else I would say is that 8Bit instantly puts a whole slew of visual images in my head, mostly being 8-Bit gaming pixel based graphics. Granted without knowing what the project entails, if it strays from the “8bit” connotations, the hardest solution to this might be conveying the project’s purpose while downplaying the relations to the name. If thats the case, maybe moving towards more smooth rounded shapes rather than square-ish pixel-ish shapes.
Hope that helps
Thanks for the feedback guys. I will definitely take it into consideration and see what I can come up with.
I love wine.
Ok but not one of your awesome works. It still has lot of changes to be made.
Suggestions in the existing logo:
1) The colors need to either change to complement each other in the Pantone or the outlines need to have a plastic or different gradient.
2)The typography of 8 bit needs to be changed. (Be creative)
3) The gray gradient is somehow destroying my attention.
Suggestions otherwise:
1) Use the digit 8 as the sign of infinity and create something.
2) Like someone mentioned try using the pixelated connotations.
I know it might not even be accepted due to the harsh nature but hey, you wanted honest opinion right?
Blast off @tuhinkumar or @inspiringpixel if you feel too bad.
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely appreciate it!
interesting feedback! thanks all!
Nice project, I like the logo its somthing bout the colours including the grey monotone.
I agree i think the name ’8-bit’ should stand out abit more have you possibly tried using 1 of the spot colours within the name?
have you also tried to do 4 batteries which width wise come to the size of the 8bit logo and showing a still animated feel of the battery charging e.g. – the 1st battery will have one bar n the 2nd will have 3, 4th having 3 n half / 4 n then the last one being fully charged? this is a possible idea
